Carved into a black lacquer panel trimmed with gold leaf sit three wise monkeys,
one covering its eyes, one hushing its mouth, and one shielding its ears.
I. Three Monkeys in Carved Black Lacquer
High under the cedar eaves of an old mountain sanctuary, three carved monkeys sit side by side on a black lacquer transom: Mizaru covering its eyes, Iwazaru covering its mouth, and Kikazaru covering its ears. As soon as the six reels below begin to turn, the gold leaf along the woodwork shimmers and the three carvings come alive. Morning mist curls around the ancient cedar pillars while the carved figures watch quietly from above the lintel.
The six-reel board is divided into three paired territories, with each monkey watching over two reels of its own: reels one and two belong to See No Evil, reels three and four to Speak No Evil, and reels five and six to Hear No Evil, bridged by the wild golden monkey. Each carved monkey brings its own ancient proverb and its own distinct reel power to the six-reel stage.
II. See No Evil and Hear No Evil
When See No Evil acts on the left block, its carved palms cover the first two reels and lift to reveal the exact same symbol in every single cell except wooden tags — filling the opening two reels with a solid wall of matching symbols from the start of the spin. With the first two reels unified into a single matching symbol, every spin starts with a powerful head start from the left.
At the far right on reels five and six, Hear No Evil cups its ears and upgrades every low-paying symbol across those two reels into one matching high-paying symbol, ensuring that any long combination reaching the end of the board finishes on a valuable symbol. By clearing away the low symbols on the final two reels, the third monkey makes sure long combinations finish strong.
III. Speak No Evil and the Monkeys' Garden
Guarding the middle two reels, Speak No Evil knows how to hold on to a good thing. After evaluating the initial spin, it locks every cell involved in a winning way on reels three and four — along with any wooden tags — and respins the remaining cells once more so the board can only keep or improve its ways.
In the base game, at most one monkey makes a move on any spin; but when enough wooden tags land to open the sunlit Monkeys' Garden, all three monkeys fire their moves on every single spin — the left reveal and right upgrade first, followed by the middle sticky respin. Seeing all three carved monkeys spring into action on the same spin turns the quiet temple garden into a whirlwind of motion.
IV. Lowering Their Hands in Enlightenment
In the clear morning light of the Monkeys' Garden, the three moves work hand in hand on every spin: the first two reels reveal a single symbol, the last two reels transform all low symbols into a high symbol, and the middle two reels hold winning cells for a second chance. Sunlight streams through the pine branches onto the raked gravel as the three territories align across the board.
If, after all three moves finish, every single cell across the entire six-reel board shows that revealed high symbol (or the golden monkey), all three monkeys lower their hands at once — eyes open, mouth open, ears open — reaching Enlightenment and multiplying the entire spin's win. Gold leaf blazes across the black lacquer transom as the three wise monkeys celebrate their moment of complete harmony.
