The story
Fiction and adapted settings written by Akitsora Gaming for this title, including invented dialogue and events. This is not a historical or folklore reference. The rules and specification tables define the gameplay and math.
On New Year's morning, a lacquered three-tier box rests at the centre of the table.
Lift the lid with celebration chopsticks in hand, and good fortune unfolds tier by tier.
I. A Lacquered Box of New Year Wishes
Across Japan, the first morning of the new year begins around a gleaming three-tier box of osechi cuisine. Set beside tapered celebration chopsticks and folded red-and-white noshi tags, the stacked lacquer trays hold delicacies prepared before the turn of the year so the family hearth may rest in peace during the holiday.
Every classic dish on the reels carries a traditional blessing for the household: grilled red sea bream for celebration, curved prawns for a long life, rolled datemaki omelette for scholarship, golden kuri kinton chestnuts for wealth, glossy black beans, golden herring roe, crisp tazukuri, and tied kobumaki kelp rolls.
II. Opening the Tiers One by One
Land enough value-bearing festive dishes in a single spin—or gather enough ceremonial noshi tags across the board—and the lacquer lid lifts to begin the Open the Box respin feature. At first only the top tier is uncovered: the triggering dishes lock neatly into its compartments while the remaining open cells respin.
Each new festive dish that lands in an empty compartment locks into the tray and resets the respin counter back to the start. The moment every compartment of the top tier is filled, the middle tier slides open below it; fill the middle tier as well, and the deep bottom tier opens its doors.
III. Four Auspicious Meanings
During the respins, special festive dishes arrive bearing one of four traditional New Year wishes. A dish marked with longevity doubles the entire sum of its tier at the final tally, while a dish of prosperity duplicates itself into an empty compartment to help complete the tray.
Meanwhile, a dish of fortune raises the value of every dish already resting in the box by one step on the prize ladder, and a dish of diligence grants an extra respin beyond the usual reset. Piece by piece, the lacquer compartments fill with colour, flavour, and warmth.
IV. Happiness Stacked Upon Happiness
The reason New Year delicacies are packed into stacked lacquer boxes is to symbolise good things piling one upon another—kasane-gasane. Fill every single compartment across all three tiers, and the respins end immediately as the entire box total is multiplied before adding the grand pine bonus on top.
When the final tally is counted and every tier is summed together, the family claps around the table to welcome the year ahead. This festive culinary tradition is the game's theme rather than a promise: every spin's outcome is decided solely by the server's random number generator.
