Falling snow quiets every sound across the mountain valley.
Only the steaming surface of the spring remembers each leap.
I. The Mountain Hot-Spring Inn
Beyond a silent forest of snow-laden cedars lies a secluded hot-spring inn glowing softly with wooden lanterns along the mountain ridge. Warm amber light spills across the frosted stones along the bank, while floating yuzu citrus and mineral-rich yunohana fill the crisp winter air with the soothing scent of mountain steam, welcoming weary travelers into the valley’s quiet, snow-draped embrace.
Set into the snowy courtyard are three independent open-air baths—the fragrant Cypress Bath, the rugged Rock Bath, and the shimmering Golden Bath. Each steaming pool turns its own three-by-three grid of cedar buckets, sake flasks, sweet steamed buns, and winter yuzu, evaluating its own fixed paylines while sharing the same tranquil snowfall beneath the high alpine peaks. Outside the timber bathhouse, crisp highland air meets the mineral-rich glow of the outdoor spring in a timeless winter retreat.
II. Leaping Monkeys Across Pools
Along the snowy stone rim sits a family of red-faced Snow Monkeys watching the rising mist with bright, curious eyes as flakes settle on their shoulders. Whenever a new monkey plunges into the leftmost Cypress Bath, ripples of golden water spread across the tiles as it becomes a Snow Monkey Wild, standing in for regular bathhouse treasures to complete a winning line.
Yet a playful mountain monkey never lingers in just one bath for long. Once the pool’s lines are tallied, it shakes the snow from its thick fur and bounds rightward into the next steaming bath, granting a no-stake hop spin as it travels from pool to pool across the courtyard until its final splash is scored at the far right.
III. Gushing Springs and Yumeguri
When three bubbling Spring scatters surface across the baths on the same base or hop spin, twilight gives way to silver moonlight over the snowy peaks and the Yumeguri bath-tour feature begins. Monkeys already soaking on the board enter the feature together, cycling happily from bath to bath without ever leaving the warm water until the moonlit tour concludes. Warm cedar steam curls past paper lanterns and snow-dusted bamboo eaves while the mountain brook murmurs softly below the veranda.
Every additional monkey that joins the soak during the feature raises the shared Yumeguri multiplier applied to winning lines across all three pools at once. With steaming white towels balanced neatly on their heads, the growing troop of soaking monkeys turns every moonlit splash into a warmer, richer celebration across the quiet mountain courtyard of the inn. Outside the timber bathhouse, crisp highland air meets the mineral-rich glow of the outdoor spring in a timeless winter retreat.
IV. Full Pools and Gokuraku Bliss
Every so often, the warm currents align so that a single bath’s entire nine-cell grid fills from corner to corner with one matching regular emblem, achieving a Full Pool. The water glows with a unified golden hue and multiplies every line award in that bath at once, rewarding the quiet harmony of an undisturbed soak in the falling snow. Warm cedar steam curls past paper lanterns and snow-dusted bamboo eaves while the mountain brook murmurs softly below the veranda.
Should all three baths achieve a Full Pool on the very same spin, the mountain inn enters the supreme state of Gokuraku. Warm golden currents, drifting snowflakes, and the leaping monkey family unite across all three steaming pools in a joyous winter festival that crowns the mountain night in steam, warmth, and shimmering light. Outside the timber bathhouse, crisp highland air meets the mineral-rich glow of the outdoor spring in a timeless winter retreat.
